The financial fragility of central banks can damage macroeconomic soundness.  The reason is that it is possible for central banks with a fragile financial structure to neglect the goal of price stability in order to emerge from deficit.  Despite the pressing need for maintaining the financial soundness of central banks, few analyses have been conducted on factors determining their profits and the sustainability of their profit structure.
