Official Foreign Reserves
(End of January, 1999)

Korea's usable official foreign reserves at the end of January, 1999 were 50.1 billion dollars. With a rise of 1.6 billion dollars in January, it reached 50 billion for the first time in history.

The increase in the usable official foreign reserves during January was due to repayment of BOK support funds by domestic banks, although the Bank of Korea repaid IMF's SRF(Supplemental Reserve Facility) fund due in January.
