Bank of Korea has published its annual Economic Statistics Yearbook since 1960, containing Korea’s major economic statistics by sector. In keeping with this tradition Bank of Korea now publishes the 2019 Yearbook again, with a focus on statistics produced by the Bank. The statistics include the five major national accounts – the national income, the balance of payments, the flow of funds, the input-output tables and the national balance sheet – along with monetary and financial statistics, price indexes and financial statement analysis.
In this 2019 edition in particular, efforts have been made to improve the quality of the Yearbook. For instance, the reference year for the national income statistics, the producer price indexes, and the export and import price indexes was revised from 2010 to 2015 in reflection of the changes in the structure of the national economy, and the new series of the balance of payments statistics and the 2015 reference year industrial input-output tables (benchmark tables) are included.
I sincerely hope that this publication will be used widely for various purposes, such as the establishment of economic policies and the analyses of economic developments. I would like to ask our readers not to hesitate in giving us their candid feedback and advice on the content that requires further improvement.
